You failed to spin test the bearings. You failed to attempt to clean out the piston rod bottom bearings and the crank bearings on either side of the damaged piston. High chance of metal filings in those bearings.
Did that off camera, cleaned and oiled.
Obknow this is a 2 year old video, make sure you test the oil pump for the oil injection, first full tank of fuel mix it at 50:1
Great point and I did both. Ran great the last 2 seasons.
Free advice, remove the seat , gas tank, that stuff needs to come off then the airbox you'll see wut i mean when you take all that other stuff off it opens up so your not fighting with no room to take the engine off
I did think of that after the fact. Great Advice for sure. Been running great the last 2 seasons.
When you took your 2017 sportsman to the dealer to have heat shield installed, how did dealer install heat shield did he have to remove rear cab to install heat shield? I purchased a kit for 2016-2017 but can not get metal heat shield over exhaust pipe, might have to remove rear cab thanks Danny
Looks like fun. Quite a bit different than riding a sled.
Yes, Actually in that terrain a sled can be a challenge at times. The bikes actually easier.
Inches or mms?
WOW! Always Good When You can get Up and Laugh it Off! Glad that you were Ok! Do You wear anything like chest protector? Or Shoulder Protection?
Going in a week. Whats the best place to find good snow around there? Most of what I’ve seen looks pretty tracked up unless you go right after it snows
Nice vid. Thanks for info. Im going deep soon and purchasing a snorkel kit for my 2023 sportsman 570
Great video! How many hours did it take to rebuild?
Don't remember. We took our time and probably took a week of nights and then put it back together and back in over a weekend.
Once the sled is loaded and ramp is in and strapped in how do you strap in the sled with the ramp blocking the tie down latches on the truck?
This is exactly what i want to do but reverse lol, did the skid bolt right up once assembled?
Yes
Nice man! With woods like that no wonder they make bark busters. I wish I had this kinda riding in socal!
Yes lots of trees to go around. I love the woods.
Sweet bike!
Thank you
The side look😂😂😂
Looking to put one of these on my rmk. Did you only have to buy rails and wheels or did you need new shocks as well
Needed all that work after only 4400 miles?
When you buy something cheap there is a reason. You don't always know how previous owners took care of it. With aything in life failures can happen. I happen to have aothere 600HO with over 10,000 miles on it.
@gobigparts I have the same motor with 6000 miles so this videos existence made me a little worried lol
How did you clean the old sealant off case before reassemble?
Scrapped it with a plastic putty knife and finished it with a razor blade being careful not to dig in an put any deep scratches. Went over it with a rag with some brake clean on it.
This video sucks. I wanted to know how to adjust it underneath. How to adjust the tie rod to move it in and out and it has nothing on that. There's no video that shows what he is doing underneath. It sucks rocks!
What is the part number on that shield? I need one
2636955-070
Does that part number work with 2016?
Gotta come see keweenaw county U.P. of Mich. See copper harbor and all the trails. Winter or summer machines.
Good video. It's good to see that all my frustrations are shared by all with the model, lol, but like anything, the more you do the work, the more straight forward, etc. I have to say, pulling the winch was a lot easier than when I installed it! so it wasn't as big a deal as I thought. I like the idea of using a pump to fill the diffs, better than the "easy packs" (Amsoil). I always remove the tires when I do the diffs, and keep the atv level. The jack can get in the way of the drain but a little extra mess is worth extra access and am always finding ways to make it work better than last time. Again, good real world video. Thanks
When you’re rotating the crack by hand you have to rotate to the left. Counter clockwise.
Yes correct.
I've been riding sleds in the UP backcountry for years. Bought my first dirt bike this spring, and hope to get up to ride the trails in the next couple of weeks. Super excited!
Like number 9. Awesome video. Love those trails in the U.P. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. You could do some motorcycle camping and fishing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
How much longer is khaos shock than rmk?(front track shock)
I strongly suggest that you remove the outer wheels on the anti stab kit and cut the axle that holds the outer wheels. Even if ice age are top quality it is really easy to take a hit on one of the wheels that bend the axle and in worst case scenario breaks the axle - and it is a perfect way to destroy a weekend when you finding that you are standing on the trail three hours away from everything with a stab kit that's now only bolted on one side of the rails...don't ask me how I know that. 🙄
Interesting. So just run center wheels. On this kit not sure its enough to keep it from stabbing. I actually thing the anti-stab is a Wahl Bros racing one.
Nice work! Did you notice quite a difference when you installed the Khaos conversation kit (Shock extender and limit strap) when it was still at 155?
I noticed a little but not near as much as when I changed the rails. Also when I added it to the 155 I also geared down a tooth, so you may want to look that video up.
That was a fun trip!
Hey could u send me your email? I'm having weird noises when I try to start up it sounds like the starter isn't engaging properly and when I finally does crank up, it idles for a second b4 it seem to get in in bind and shut off. The starter is new
FYI my bike looks just like this lol
Mine has it, I'm pulling it off.
perfect . I love it. great job just lost the motor in my 600 rush last night. time for a tear down with my son.
Great learning experience. Sled is still running great.
I like it
How do you set up your power values in your engine
These ones are spring return and pressure activated. So no need to set, just clean.
How do you set up your power values in your engine
These ones were manual vavles so just cleanned and put back in.
How do you set your power value when putting it on the engine
Not sure wha your asking. Power Value?
Is that a 5.5 ft bed? Or it's full size bed ? Thanks
On a chevy the call it 5'8 and that is what I have.
Looks beautiful out! Bet it was a fun ride.
How do you get spacer off the shaft after you take the brake rotor off to slide the chain case cover off. Thks
Good question. I may have come off when I removed the cover.
pull hard or use 2 flat head screw drivers to pry off. It has to pass the rubber o ring. The o ring makes it a tight fit, if ya get me.
Im starting to like Polaris!
Earned a new subsciber i want to rebuild a 600 cfi in a 2014 polaris indy 800sp frame
That you Edward. We love Polaris sleds and I love teaching my kids how to do things.
@@gobigparts nice dude! I'll show my boys how to do things myself.
I loved working on the sled with my dad!
So you didn't show how you got the cams back in the head with the timing chain, which is maybe the most important part putting it back together, that's where I am at now. I don't seem to be able to get the cams and chain back together
Correct. Sometimes I just get in work mode and forget to film. With the everything loose, chain tensioner, no caps on cam you probably have to tilt the cams down toward tensioner a bit to get chain aroud and on teeth.
@@gobigparts I am having problems gaining enough slack in the chain to get both cams back in the head, I believe it is because the one chain guide that is closest to the exhaust valves is not down far enough, I don't have a book on this ATV, and when I pulled the head the guide came with it, I don't seem to be able to get it to go back down where it's supposed to go, I don't believe it is sitting right or locking in place, I need an image from a manual for the guides, or an image from an engine itself.
@@dougturngren5027 Hmm, I believe you can download a manual online.
Probably should be doing this with the tensioner removed… it would help gain space and an extra free hand. If the chain guide is out of place you may be in for some more work, it may be loose or broken further down towards the bottom end
Thanks for the video
Love the video, I’m going to be doing same thing with mine
I'm eyeing a 2012 Rush 600 that has 10K miles on it... Might have to do this 😅
I'm going to put a straightline performance on my 850. When it's on I'll be riding in the middle of nowhere on private property. If I go ride trails I'll throw the stock can back on
Do you prefill the cavity of the crankcase where the crankshaft gear meets the water pump gear with any oil?
I did not. Not sure if you should or not. Mine does run good now.
@@gobigparts Okay thanks! I just assembled my 600 CFI bottom end and didn't either, I went through the Polaris shop manual and see nothing about requiring to do it. I usually work on ski doo/sea doo and those machines require an oil bath.
My favorite trails. Nothing like a grown man beating the shit out of a outlaw 110
They are great trails. I sold my Quad and bought a KTM dirt bike and have been doing a lot of the single tracks in Baldwin.
Can someone message me? I have some questions for my 05 sportsman 500ho. I want to build it little bigger as add radiator mount, snorkel and shld I add 27 inch? I have 26 and surf heavy tire Pls thank u
